Determination of storage period of adhesive

(1). Topic content and scope
    This standard specifies the storage period of the adhesive.

    This standard is applicable to determine the storage period of an adhesive under specified conditions by measuring the change in viscosity or adhesive strength before and after storage of the adhesive.

    (3). definition

    This standard uses the following definition:

    Storage life; shelf life
     Under the specified conditions, the adhesive can still maintain its operating performance and the maximum storage time of the specified strength.

    (4). sampling

    Take at least three samples filled with a container with a capacity of 500 mL from the freshly produced adhesive according to the sampling method specified in the adhesive product standard, and seal it for testing (if the sample package is less than 500 mL, it is not necessary to dispense).

    (5). device

    5.1 Viscometer: Any type of viscometer suitable for the adhesive being tested.
    (Note: Rotor viscometer is recommended.)
    5.2 Constant temperature control box: The temperature fluctuation range is ± 2 ℃.
     5.3 Containers: Glass bottles with lids or other containers that do not react with the adhesive can also be negotiated separately between the supplier and the buyer.

     5.4 Balance: Sensitivity is 0.lg.
          5.5 Testing machine: A testing machine that has the required loading speed and is equipped with an automatic centering fixture.

          (6). Test conditions

           6.1 Test storage conditions: Generally (23 ± 2) ° C, the time shall be determined by the supplier and the buyer. If the adhesive has special requirements, the storage conditions can be separately agreed between the supplier and the buyer.
          6.2 Test conditions: The temperature is (23 ± 2) ° C, and the humidity-sensitive adhesive needs to control the relative humidity to 50% ± 5%.

          (7). experiment procedure

           7.1 Store the sealed sample to be tested in a (23 ± 2) ° C incubator or under the conditions specified in the adhesive instruction manual.
         7.2 Put one of the containers with the sample into storage immediately under the conditions set by the sample at the beginning of storage, and leave it at least 4h.
         7.3 Adhesive viscosity shall be measured in accordance with GB / T 2794.
         7.4 Prepare the adhesive according to the instructions for use of the adhesive.
         7.5 Prepare adhesive samples according to the instructions of the adhesive user manual, and determine the adhesive strength according to GB / T 2790, GB / T 7124, GB / T2791, GB / T 17517 or other corresponding national standards.
         7.6 During storage, take samples that have been dispensed at regular intervals and operate in accordance with the provisions of Clause 7. 2-7. 5 (at least twice).

          (8). test results

           The longest storage time for the adhesive to maintain its operating performance and specified strength is used as the storage period, which is expressed in time units (year, month, etc.).

          (9). experiment report
 The test report should include the following:
   a. Adhesive type, source, production batch number, shape, production date and test date;
   b. Adhesive storage conditions, including temperature, storage time, container type and specifications;
   c. Test dosage and formulation ratio of the adhesive;
   d. Standard and temperature used for viscosity measurement and model of viscometer;
   e. Detailed description of the standards and sample preparation used to determine the bond strength;
   f. Data of viscosity or bonding strength before and after storage of the adhesive;
   g. test results;
   h. Other observed phenomena that may affect the performance of the adhesive, such as precipitation, discoloration, delamination, agglomeration or coagulation
   Glue, etc.
   i. Other matters needing explanation.
